Art Competition for Leisure Painters
Sunday November 16, 2008
Daler-Rowney is running an open art competition called Make Your Mark with categories for leisure painters, students, under 16s, and under 12s. Entry is free and is done online (submissions must be in jpg, png, or gif image format, 600x600 pixels). The deadline is 1 December 2008 at GMT 17:00 (if you're not sure about timezone conversions, submit your entry by the end of November!).
There is one prize for each category (prize details) plus an invitation to exhibit at the Mall Gallery in London for three days. Unfortunately the competition rules lack information about traveling expenses associated with taking up the student or leisure painter prizes. If you want to know what level of competition you'll be up against, browse through the submitted paintings.

Thanks for the info, you cannot imagine how helpful it is for a general arts site like yours to also display alerts for competitions like this. Too often competitions have their own specific sites and pass unnoticed by so many of us. I would go as far as to suggest that you devote a section of your site to recent art competitions. Thanks once again!
I agree also that maybe we could all keep our eyes peeled for art competions and post them in the forums. Most competitions I find are for the USA. Granted, anyone can enter but I cannot travel that far if I were ever lucky enough to be invited to display my work.
I will personally keep an eye out fo UK competions.
