Art Word Play
Sunday November 2, 2008
There's some great word play on an art theme happening in the Painting Forum. Host Tina started it, saying: "I was trying to think of a way to gain knowledge of some of the terminology and maybe remember them too. Many of these are found in our Art Glossary. Click any of the highlighted, underlined words to go to a definition or explanation of that word as it applies to painting."
Seriously Silly Questions About Painting:
1. Are fixatives for baroque paintings?
2. If your painting has not cured does it have a disease?
3. Does the rule of thirds mean I have to share this canvas with my brother and sister?
4. Why do we say "sgrafitto" for scratched paint and not "s-grafitti" for spray painted walls?
5. Why is it scumbling if it's paint, and scrubbing if it's dishes?
6. Are cartoons only for kids?
7. Shouldn't we need a parachute to get good aerial perspective?
8. If "Art Nouveau" means new art, then why is it so old?
9. Is "Action Painting done by action figures like Spiderman?
10. If it has a Toe, a Heel and a Belly but no head, what is it?
