Did You Know Renoir Had Arthritis?

By February 28, 2007

Follow me on:

Renoir If you're a painter struggling with arthritis, you may find inspiration from the Impressionist painter Renoir. He suffered from severe rheumatoid arthritis from around the age of 50, to the extent that he was "unable to pick up a paintbrush ... and it had to be wedged between his fingers". Yet Renoir still painted whenever possible.

About's Arthritis Guides, Carol and Richard Eustice, look at this aspect of Renoir's life in their article Renoir: Portrait of Perseverance. The BMJ's article: How Renoir Coped with Rheumatoid Arthritis is accompanied by several period photos and looks, among other things, at how it influenced Renoir's style and painting technique. Both articles left me with an even great admiration for the man and his painting achievements.

Howdy would you mind stating which blog platform you’re working with? I’m planning to start my own blog soon but I’m having a difficult time deciding between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your design seems different then most blogs and I’m looking for something completely unique.
P.S Sorry for being off-topic but I had to ask!
