Rembrandt and Uylenburgh: Dealing in Masterpieces

An exhibition opens today at The Rembrandt House Museum in Amsterdam which looks at the role the art dealer Hendrick Uylenburgh, and his son Gerrit, played in establishing the career of Rembrandt and other artists. The exhibition, Rembrandt and Uylenburgh, Dealing in Masterpieces "presents a representative collection of the products of Hendrick and Gerrit Uylenburgh’s workshop and a selection of the pieces they dealt in" between 1625 and 1675. If you enjoy art set in its broader historical context, you'll likely to enjoy this exhibition. A catalog has also been published to accompany the exhibition: Art and Commerce from Rembrandt to De Lairesse, 1625-1675 by Friso Lammertse and Jaap van der Veen.
