Sources of Inspiration: Anne Stahl's Abstract Landscapes
Thursday September 8, 2005
I'm very partial to abstractions, where my mind can relate what's in the painting to something I've seen in a landscape somewhere, rather than 'pure' abstracts, which I tend to have no emotional response to. So, when I came across the abstract landscapes of Anne Stahl, I found myself wondering why they appealed to me so strongly. With Anne's bog paintings I think it's the linear nature of colours, that my mind interprets it as "land" and "sky". I'd be interested to hear your opinion once you've taken a look.... Anne herself describes her work thus: "My work is inspired by the natural world ... Rather than re-creating a landscape on a canvas, I aim to express its essence." View paintings...
