Painting with Words: A Poem on Painting

Saturday June 25, 2005
Showing that she can paint with words as well as a brush, Starrpoint posted this poem, called Committed, on the Painting Forum. She says she wrote it when she was trying to start a beach painting and "felt the fear and hesitation as usual" that comes before putting down the first stroke. When a painting takes that step from being something in your mind to being something struggling for realisation, when you can no longer go back, but aren't always sure how to go forward.

Committed
Talk
Talk….
Subjects and perspective
Views and light
Canvas prepped
And Colors

Looking deep
Thinking
Analyzing
Finding the hidden colors
Hidden views
Hidden perspective

Complements and contrast

Pick up the brush and dip in into the paint
The first stroke….

Committed.
