What's I'm Planning to See in London
Monday June 13, 2005
I'm very excited to be going to London for a few days next week and have been surfing around to see what's on at various galleries that I won't want to miss.
Besides the Frida Kahlo exhibition at the Tate Modern, I think I'll also go to the Joshua Reynolds: The Creation of Celebrity at the Tate Britain, which "brings together a selection of the greatest portraits by Reynolds ... many of them ... the cream of British society of the era".
Then there's Open Systems: Rethinking Art c.1970 at the Tate Modern which "brings together the work of international artists who radically rethought the object of art in the late 1960s and 1970s. Maybe it'll include some video and installation art that doesn't leave me thinking "nice idea, poorly executed".
Of course, I'll also wander around the collections of the Tate Britain, Tate Modern, National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, British Museum ... best pack some comfy shoes and pampering foot lotion!
