Sketchbook Safari with Wildlife Artist Katie Lee
Saturday April 30, 2005
I've never believed that "people who can't, teach", but rather the opposite, that being able to teach and inspire is a gift. And I have never encountered an artist who teaches in a manner that’s more encouraging and enabling, to artists of all levels, than the botanical and zoological artist Katie Lee. Last year Alistair, my husband, and I spent a week with Katie on her Sketchbook Safari in the Okavango Delta in Botswana. We came away inspired, motivated, on a creative high, full of new ideas. It's not a cheap trip (by most people's definition, but one definitely worth saving up for!), but you can do it vicariously in this photographic feature I've written (and if you want to know why it's taken me so long to sit down and write it, well, I was too busy painting!). Follow our sketchbook safari step by step...
