Painting Workshops in South Africa 2005

Saturday April 16, 2005
I'd just had an email asking me if I knew of any watercolour workshops in South Africa -- priced so a local could afford it -- when the autumn copy of the Watercolour Society of SA's magazine, Aquarelle, arrived in the post . In it were quite a few adverts for art workshops, which not only gave me an answer to that email but also answered my own ponderings about why it seemed there were so few painting workshops compared to the UK and USA. It seems they're just not widely promoted. So I decided to list the ones I know about.

My hope is that once people realise there are some workshops going on, it'll encourage people to go, both South Africans looking for a creative break and visitors to the country. (The current exchange rate is about six rands to a dollar, eight to a Euro, and 11,5 to a pound.) If you know of any other workshops, email me the details and I'll add them to the list.

I don’t, but somewhere such as the KwaZulu-Natal Society of Arts or the Durban tourism might. I can’t believe that there isn’t something on offer on the Midlands Meander at least.
